Dear Sister Anna Tao and all of you dear sisters of the province ,
With these few words I would like to unite myself wholeheartedly to your thanksgiving for the 90 years of presence of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in Vietnam which will be celebrated in 2022 and share the joy of the solemn Eucharist which today, 13 November 2021, will open this year of celebration.
I am particularly touched by the way you want to celebrate this memorial anniversary - I quote what Sister Tao wrote to me - "We would like to use this occasion of blessing to re-read our life as FMM, to go back to the sources, to renew our response to have the capacity to live fully our FMM vocation in the Church and the country of Vietnam".
You wish to take this step starting from the history lived in each community. It is therefore an incarnated process and I hope that you will live it as an authentic contemplation of Christ Jesus living, loving and working in the lives of the FMM who have succeeded one another, in a long chain, in each community throughout time.
Yes, go back to the source! Drink from the source of the Gospel that has touched the hearts of all those women who have gone before you. Drink from the source of true power: love, which Mary of the Passion has left us as a heritage, the only one "capable of calming the evils of the world".
Everything is a gift: the past, the present, the future. It is up to you to welcome this gift of God, by listening to the "fine silence of his Spirit" throughout this Jubilee Year. This is the grace I ask for you.
With all my fraternal affection and gratitude
Françoise Massy, fmm
